ESFP

Recently, I have been very interested in self-actualization. I am at the point in my life where I think I have myself all figured out, but then the next day I have no idea who I am or what I want out of life.

This is why I was so pleased to be introduced to the Myers-Briggs Personality Test. This is a 72 question test created by the famous psychologists, Carl Jung and Isabel Briggs-Myers. The test gives you a full explanation and a 4-letter typing formula of who you are and what your personality means. I have never found any personality test to be more accurate, and I've taken many...

So what were my results? ... I am an ESFP personality type.

ESFP Strengths

These qualities are all so me. The test provides a guideline of who I am. It allows me to see concrete examples of how I can improve and what I can be proud of.

Another part of the ESFP personality I would like to highlight is dating and relationships:

  • "People with this personality type live completely in the present, squeezing everything out of every moment and approaching their relationships from the same perspective. For instance, ESFPs often enjoy dating someone without thinking about the next steps or long-term plans."
  • "Overall, ESFPs are very enthusiastic, direct, and affectionate partners. Their relationships are likely to be based on simple, pure, down-to-earth love and focus on small everyday pleasures. Being very social and easy-going, ESFPs will bring a lot of energy and freshness into their relationships."
  • Preferred partners: ISFJ and ISTJ types, as their Introversion (I) and Judging (J) traits counterbalance ESFPs’ Extraversion (E) and Prospecting (P) traits.
Once again all too true! Hopefully I will find someone to balance me perfectly. In the meantime I am content with myself and am completely happy being immersed in the present moment :)

Some famous ESFP's are:
John F. Kennedy, Steven Spielberg, Quentin Tarantino, Beyonce, and Cameron Diez
Some fictional ESFP characters (from my favorite shows) are:
Rachel (from Friends) & Serena van der Woodsen (from Gossip Girl)

I recommend taking the test yourself to see what you get: http://www.humanmetrics.com/cgi-win/jtypes2.asp.

A Sincere Apology from my Capricious Self

Hello Blogger,

I must admit I owe this blog a sincere apology. I originally created it to document my travels while abroad and to colorfully write about my experiences and well-being. This I unfortunately did not follow up on. I was too busy having the time of my life! Which I do not regret, but sometimes I get so frustrated with my lack of follow through on projects. I am a doer, I always go after what I want, but the more mundane things I tend to ignore. Now that I am back in Tucson, I am admittedly underwhelmed and frankly... bored. So I will take up blogging again in my free time, and make the best of the situation like I always do.

Now that I have gotten that off my chest, I will begin my first new blog post. It is a list of summer goals. Summer is approaching and it is the best time to take on accomplishments because of my lack of endless homework and studies.

Here is a tentative list of summer to-do's:

-Finish a book // I always start one but never finish. I am determined to read a novel, "The Beautiful and Damned"

-Make and save over $3,000 // I was a little overindulgent while abroad therefore I am now officially a broke college student, I figured I should have some savings because of graduation and the real world looming close by.

-Invest in a gym membership and GO at least 3 days a week // "Exercise improves your mood" is the truest cliche to ever be spoken.

-Treat yourself with respect emotionally and physically // I have not treated my body as a temple as of late which is a cruciality that must be addressed. I also need to promise to respect my emotions and if something(or someone) is not making me happy, I need to just end it. Not worth my stress or time.

-Lastly, just enjoy yourself // This is my last summer as a student, worry-free. I am the first to admit that I never have an issue enjoying myself. But I mean enjoy yourself in a healthy context... adventure, hike, camp, swim, take trips, flirt, love, be free. Enjoying yourself does not have to include any substances beside the sun and a free spirt.

As for now, I will begin my pledge to treat myself with respect and to healthfully enjoy life. It's good to be back :)

xx Ciao for now!

Wisdom of My 20's

I've learned a lot within these two decades of my life. A lot about friendship, sincerity, relationships, and myself. I have always been such an open, loving, and caring person that sometimes I forget to care about myself as much as others. Here are some words of "advice" I wrote for myself to always follow and remember:

"Be not with the 'best' man, but the man who makes you your best self"

"The best relationships are the ones that uplift your spirit and make you soar"

"You can love someone for who they are. But it is not declared true love until that someone makes you love yourself even more than you thought possible"

"It's the downtime, the time when life seems quiet, that you appreciate the exhilarating 'up time' that makes you feel so alive"

Now I am by no means Ernest Hemingway, but I do think that these quotes are all relevant and imperative to my life at this time. I never realized how much I gave in relationships and did not receive in return. I am content being single for now, and for a while. But when I'm ready to jump on that horse again, I must remember these wisdoms. I must remember that if this man is right for me, then he will aid me to be the best I can be.

I have living proof that people can truly aid you to be your best self... my best friends. These people are truly freaking amazing! They never fail to inspire, liven, soften, and motivate my outlook on life.

They say you are most like the five people you spend the greatest amount of time with. If I am going to add another person into that mix, he better be able to lift my spirits even higher than they are now. And I must admit, that is quite a daunting task, because my spirits are pretty high right now and I really don't know how much happier it gets.

I'm Coming Home

There are just a few short weeks left of homework, exams, projects, papers, and crap. And soon I will be roadtrippen my way back home to San Francisco! There are so many things I miss about home and so much comfort that I long for during times like this.

Things I am most looking forward to:

  • My best friends in the entire world
  • My family
  • The corner spot on the couch (my favorite spot in the world)
  • Beautiful crisp cool weather, the perfect 70 degree temperament
  • Redwood Bagel (otherwise known as heaven in a bagel)
  • The Norcal beaches = cool sea breezes and golden poppies along the coast
  • Observing the giant redwood trees that make life's problems feel utterly microscopic
  • Finally having an income! I will be busy working two jobs and loving it
  • Hiking spots overlooking the Bay and Pacific all in one
  • Sunny days on Haight, people-watching and rummaging through vintage shops
  • Shopping days on Union Square
  • Giants game days with an ice cold beer in hand

Craving comfort and home <3 Six weeks can't come soon enough.

Humuhumunukunukuapuaa

Aloha,
Spring Break is quickly approaching and this lucky girl gets to spend it in Hawaii! The best friend, Marie, has the honor of going to school at UH Manoa so I am visiting and spending my break on the island of O'ahu. When I didn't think it could get any better I found out another one of my best friends, Amanda, who I haven't seen for an entire year will be in Hawaii the exact same time I am visiting!!! So not only will I be in the most beautiful place in the world but I will also be accompanied by the most amazing best friends anyone could ever ask for. This will be the most epic spring break of my life. I can't wait for the warm ocean breeze, sand in my toes, and the smell of Hawaiian hibiscus flowers wafting through the air.

Things I hope to do while I'm there:

- whale watch
- get my tan on at the beach
- snorkel and see the Humuhumunukunukuapuaa
- go parasailing
- eat some delicious fish and pineapple
- hike and see the beautiful scenery
- go to a traditional luau
- watch an epic surf competition
- and laugh with my best friends

I will post pictures once I'm back!

The Road Ahead

As I'm getting closer and closer to the big G (graduation), I've realized there is a lot I don't know about myself. Through these college years I have realized that something HUGE, something eye-opening, was missing from my life...the experience of new cultures and life. I strive to travel and see as much as I can while I'm young and able to do so. The world is my oyster and I am ready to venture beyond the borders of my "comfort zone". So where will I go to lead this new lifestyle? None other than ROME, ITALY!!! Yes my friends, as of next Fall 2013 I will be studying abroad in this majestic European city.

In exactly six months I will be on my way! Looking forward to a fresh change and an experience of a lifetime.
